Technology

When you see your dentist, you want to be assured that you will have the best patient experience. At Gulfside Dental, that expectation is a reality, thanks to our skilled team and advanced technology. This includes our convenient electronic health records, which make record-keeping and the transfer of information fast and efficient. Let’s take a look at some of the other pieces of technology we use.

Digital X-Rays

The introduction of digital X-rays to the dental world has been a tremendous next step in diagnosing oral health issues. Compared to “traditional X-rays,” the digital counterparts are more cost-effective and safer, producing around 80% less radiation.

Imaging is now extremely clear, allowing the dentist to easily see trouble spots they might not have seen before. Plus, there’s no need to develop the image after it’s captured. It shows up instantly on any computer monitor.

Intra-Oral Camera

An intraoral camera is a handy tool that dentists use to take photos and videos of your oral region. This isn’t just an ordinary camera. Its small size allows it to easily capture the deepest and hardest to reach parts of your mouth – not to mention the darkest. This camera gives dentists an up-close look at any part of the mouth with a built-in light.

Laser Dentistry

While lasers have been around in dentistry since the 80s, they are only just now finding their true potential as an extremely useful tool. Lasers allow the dentist to reshape or fully remove soft tissue without pain. Some common uses include:

  • Cavity detection and treatment
  • Treating sensitivity
  • Crown lengthening

Cone Beam Computed Tomography

Sometimes a regular X-ray might not be enough. In certain situations, it’s much more beneficial to see everything in a three-dimensional space. That’s why we use CBCT scans to plan more complex procedures. The process can capture detailed images of your soft tissues, teeth, and nerves.
